pushing pedals

We all have seen those graceful Danes on Copenhagen Cycle Chic. They all look so...well... chic! So what should you wear to push the pedals? I got some tips from Vouge UK.
  • Avoid top-to-toe lycra at all costs - think pottering down country lanes, not competing in an endurance race.
  • Make like the cyclists and, while it's warm, go for shorts.
  • Wear classic trainers and a waterproof jacket. Espadrilles are another good option.
  • Get your bike fitted with a removable basket to put your handbag in - so much chicer than a back pack.
  • Push the pedals in flats, brogues or ballet slippers.

    where children sleep

Where Children Sleep is a collection of James Mollison's photographs of childrens' bedrooms from around the world.

"I hope this book will help children think about inequality, within and between societies around the world," says Mollison in his introduction, "and perhaps start to figure out how, in their own lives, they may respond."

You can pre-order the book, here, on Amazon. More of Mollison's work can be viewed at jamesmollison.com.

    i heart guts

So I have just started watching Grey's Anatomy. I know I'm slow. I have honestly never seen it before, then my new room mate moves in with season 1-5 on disc and I am hooked!

So is it a coincidence that I end up in the ER being told I have gallstones in my gallbladder? Well at least I got some morphine for my pain and was entertained listening out for a "code blue".

So what does the cute little gallbladder do? He collects and concentrates bile, a substance made by the liver and used to digest fat. And how did I know that? Well because I found it on I Heart Guts of course! I Heart Guts is the brainchild of an anatomically obsessed illustrator. The guts grew from a single drawing of a broken heart, after a string of bad hookups, dead-end relationships and lame-o boyfriends. Which is just like Grey's Anatomy. And is just like me going to hospital next week to get this little guy taken out of my guts.

    Wish me luck!

... let's make it a Brisbane hat-trick! Fifth Battery Coffee Roasters are the newest roaster on the Valley block and they have a serious passion for coffee. A brother of the popular Brother Espresso, Fifth Battery has now opened in an old hangar at 23 Warry Street Fortitute Valley. Can't wait to come back for a visit.

Australian rockers The Rocktsmiths have their debut album The Bones out and I have been listening to the free stream all morning. These guys are seriously ace. They are Brisbane lads, but if you get the chance to see them live, please go! They are so much fun to watch. Oh and I want their t-shirt! A bear riding in a shopping trolley? Oh yes!

Oh and guys, next time you're in Melbourne please let me in on a photo shoot! ;) x

    Old vans by Laurent Nivalle

I am lucky enough to live in such an amazing, huge country and although I am still yet to travel across the sea to different cultures, I have seen quite a lot of Australia. I have been to hundreds of beautiful beach towns, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne, the wineries of the Clare, the Barossa and the Hunter Valley, the countryside, rainforests and even verging on the desert. But there is still so much I want to see. And oh how I would LOVE to see it with a cute little old van tugging along behind me.
